Like the high level handisport athletes, any person with a disability has the right to enjoy th pleasure of skiing. In Tignes it's possible!
As the flagship resort for the 1992 Paralympic Games, Tignes remains a reference in terms of accessibility for disabled skiers. More recently, the Handisport Wolrd Cup events were held on the Lognan stadium during the winter of 2015, then in january 2018.
Tignes is an handy friendly resort!
All the sectors of the domain are praticable, according to each level
(note that to be used on French ski lifts, the wheelchair ski must be approved by the STRMTG).
Every runin Tignes is accessible, except for the top of the glacier (3500, Glacier and Downhill) as the Grande Motte cable car does not allow wheelchair skiers to use it, mainly for evacuation reasons in case of breakdown.
Access to the Grande Motte slopes is mainly via the Lanches et Vanoise chairlifts. The Perce-Neige funicular is not recommended because of the steps in the downstream and upstream stations, but disabled athletes training on the glacier (in summer and autumn) use it anyway. Only the Grande Motte cable car is inaccessible to disabled skiers.
Note: Recommended for use on detachable chairlifts. The fixed grip chairlifts "Aiguille Rouge" and "Col des Vés" are not recommended for wheelchair skiers.
The Tovière sales point, located in the Tignes le Lac building, has a PRM ticket office. To reach this cash desk, use the lift from the lower entrance of the building (at the level of the bus station and the exit of the underground car park of the Lake) and enter the STGM sales area.
Holders of a disability card and their companion benefit from a 50% reduction on the public rate* (simultaneous purchase of the same duration, same validity dates, same area). Ski passes can be purchased directly in the resort at the STGM sales points.
